i want to be a interior designer..what'd i study autocad or 3dsmax or revitt or all?

i am very passionate about interior designing though i dont have any academic experience over it..so what will be the best choice 4 me ?? i mean from where should i start?? i heard abt a new software called autodesk revitt .....is that more flexible than 3dsmax?? for getting a job in this field my plan is to study autocad, 3dsmax or revitt or both and to join a construction company as a trainee .....i cant spend time on civil engineering course as i am 28 yrs of age and married...so pls help me to sort out this ...by

Stop! You're going 89 directions at once!

Your goal is Interior Design. So why are you taking Civil Engineering? Is there something that I don't know about land subdivisions, surveying, utility lines (sewers) that connects with Interiors? Stop. Study the basics of design, art, form, colors, materials, putting it all together...

Secondly, you recognize that entry level is thru drafting. So, pursue the basics of drafting - AutoCAD. It will get you into an Interior Design firm. After that (maybe 2-3 years later), advance to Revitt for drawing production speed and efficiency.

Joining a construction company will take you YEARS out of your path to ASID. How does nailing off a roof in 105 degree weather teach you anything about design?

FOCUS. Take the straightest course to your goal that you can. Sign up for night school at your local community college to learn AutoCAD. Then contact your local chapter of ASID - American Society of Interior Designers.

Join as an "associate" or "student" member. Attend their meetings, dinners, etc and talk to the members. Be the eager intern... tell them you are studying CAD and ask them for their ideas on 'best path' for you. It'll take a few months of attending monthly meetings (be consistent and be there) and one of them will find an opening for you. It might be Jr Jr Jr level CAD guy but you're in...
