Autocad tech drawings?

What is a realistic time in which I could get to grips with Autocad drawings that have been made and turn it into a pretty reasonable animation/render in 3D? Say a planner gave me the Autocad file, would it be easy to learn to use in a 3D program?
Also, is Autocad hard to learn to replicate dimensions and prelimenary paper drawings into Autocad files?

Thanks for any input people have!

Its fairly straight foreward, as they should have all the measurements on there. Obviously you'll need to start out small and get to grips with different ways of doing things. Within a month should do it though.
