Railway Engineering Standard Gauge & Narrow Gauge?

Hello all

I was wondering if some could help me.

I am trying to establish the effect on speed on trains when trains travel on a gauge of 1435 or 1065.

The equation for Cant for standard gauge is:-
Eq Cant for 1435 = 11.82*V^2/R

& the equation for Cant for narrow gauge is:-
Eq Cant for 1065 = 8.93*V^2/R

If R = radius & V = Speed and Radius is 300 for both standard & narrow gauge then, does the train go faster on a standard gauge or narrow gauge?

Can anyone shed any light???

skipping the math for the moment, you know that a wider stance gives your more stability.
the same is true of tracks.
in Russia, the standard track width is 6' as opposed to 4' 8" for most of the world.
that gives Russian trains more stability.
