Engineering Career help ?
Hi I'm in 12th grade and trying to figure out what i want to major in for college. I'm trying to decide between Civil and Industrial Engineering. The problem is I'm not the strongest math student I usually get B's and B+'s on my report card. I realize that no matter what i do there will be some difficulties,but I still wonder what would be the best choice for me.
Note: I'm also interested in Architecture(although I'm not interested in majoring it) I take classes in school which generally involve drawing and building models and do enjoy designing things
I would have to agree with adsf about the outlook of Civil Engineering. Colleges will probably tell you different since they are there to sell you courses and classes but they have no clue about what is going on outside the walls of academia. They will probably tell you that you will get hired straight out of college making $60k but in reality is there are very few jobs and getting fewer because the technology out there is making it possible for fewer Civil Engineers to do more.
The market is over-saturated with Civil Engineers and the job outlook is dismal.
May I suggest going into Chemical, Nuclear, Biomedical, Computer Science, Electrical engineering. Also, learn a different language because of globalization, a lot of companies work in several different countries now and they look highly upon people with foreign language skills.
