Graphics Software Programs

graphics software programs
How does software work? How is the graphics of software incorporated (placed in the program)?

The main thing about software that i do not understand is how the graphics and layout of the graphics appear. For instance lets say the windows start button, is it an image file which has been called from a directory on the operating system by a programming language and then is placed there or does the programmer have to code the button and all its colors? I can understand what a program is supposed to do when the button is clicked and that the source code executes that command with the use of a programming language and then does what it is suppose to do and in this case obviously for windows to open up a menu full of other things such as (All programs) etc.

It is called a GUI. A graphical User Interface.
The question you asked varies between the language used.
Some programs can have them embedded by the compiler alongside the code to be called upon later. And some call them through links in the code in special folders made for them.
I.E.: images or data/images.

Also some languages such as PYTHON require you to install the main program before you can use the language on the host computer, then incorporates the modules used to form a button.
