There are many benefits of using a tablet PC, and three of them will be discussed below. A tablet personal computer is a portable computer that features a touchscreen. Microsoft made the term popular in 2001 when Bill Gates released a prototype of the computer. However, it did not begin to become widely available in electronic stores until around 2006. Generally speaking, these computers will have a screen size that ranges from 7 inches to as many as 13 inches. 1. Portability

The best benefit of owning a tablet PC is its portability. Of course, a laptop is considered to be a portable computer as well, but there is a major weight difference between the two devices. Unless you purchase an eight cell battery for your laptop, you will probably only get a few hours of life out of it. There are hundreds of programs available that are specifically designed for people who own a tablet PC. Are you a graphic designer? If so, you will love the fact that you can use a stylus to draw images on its touchscreen instead of using a mouse like you would have to with a desktop or laptop. Are you a student or do you go to meetings often? You can choose to use a stylus to jot a few notes down by hand, or you can bring up the keyboard on the tablet PC and type just like you would on any other computer. When you factor in the portability of these devices, you have a truly portable computer that has endless uses.

3. A True Personal Computer

Many people refer to tablet PCs as being the only true personal computer that is out there. If you are sending an e-mail to a friend or family member, don't type it out. Instead, use the touchscreen to write the note by hand. For most people, it is a great feeling to receive a hand written note in their inbox. Many instant message clients will even allow you to write directly into the dialog box instead of typing. Although this may sound corny to some people, the tablet PC definitely puts the P back into PC. The great thing about these computers too is the fact that they don't have a flip up screen, which means you can sit across from someone without having that screen acting as a divider.
