Chemdraw vs Chemsketch?

I'm going to graduate school for organic chemistry so I'm looking to have a software on hand to draw molecules, for research/presentations/ course assignments.

Which is better, chemdraw or chemsketch? I know chemsketch is freeware, so please disregard that factor.

Chemdraw is really the best software, especially for a graduate student. No one uses chemsketch, so if the file types are incompatible, communicating with your advisor could become a problem. On an unrelated note, check to see what kind of computer youd advisor and group use, ie. Mac or PC. If you're in the market for a computer, it is advisable to get the same kind. Anyway, also, chemsketch doesn't have premade object settings, whereas chemdraw does The ACS 1996 document settings will be necessary for submitting publications. Finally, if you're going to a big enough school and don't want to purchase software, you may not need to rely on chemsketch, as the university will probably have a site license to download and use chemdraw.

Chemical/Molecule drawing software for 64-bit Vista?

I am have quite a difficult time locating any molecule drawing software for 64-bit Vista that is not hundreds of dollars.

I am a student, and was hoping for freeware, but I am willing to pay a little if its good. I don't need anything fancy as I will only be using it to insert molecule drawings into lab reports. Anything else I do with it will be purely recreational.

I can't understand why there is so little available for 64-bit Vista users. Anyone aware of free or cheap chemical drawing software?

Unfortunately the only one I have used that is listed is chemdraw, which comes with a big price tag. although sometimes they offer free student versions and some schools have licenses for their students to get the software though the chem department.
