Whats the difference between the Autodesk programs?
I am a Mechanical Engineering student specializing in Aeronautics and I am wondering which computer aided design software I should be using. I have a class that will require me to use Solidworks and I would like to know if there is an Autodesk software that is an alternative to Solidworks or works similarly to it.
I have downloaded AutoCAD Inventor Professional Suite 2011 to give it a try and to see if it will suite my needs. Can you guys help me out by suggesting what the difference is between all of the Autodesk programs/softwares? I have searched everywhere and still am I need of answers.
Also, which program would be beneficial based on my area of study? Will I be needing the other Autodesk programs aside from the Inventor Professional Suite? I think the Inventor Pro comes with AutoCAD already, so I don't think I will need to install AutoCAD 2011 + AutoCAD Inventor Pro Suite 2011.
In your profession most eng firms use Solidworks, AutoCAD inventor or Pro-E, My favorite out of the 3 is Solidworks.
