Any way I was wondering how hard it is to become an Airline pilot and what would be the best way to go about it?
Is it rewarding?
Any ideas of how to finance it?
Ireland Isn't part of the UK...just saying.
Howya Rory,
You must have been up early when you asked this question.
Your leaving cert. subjects look good. Honours in Tech. drawing and German would be a huge plus make sure you at least pass the rest.
Long story short I'm Irish from Dublin moved to the U.S. in 1988 I was 18.
When I was your age becoming an Airline Pilot was my dream perhaps more of a fantasy because it was impossible for me to achieve at that time.
Fast forward to today. Europe is a different world. If flying is your passion and dream go for it! you stand a much better chance than those who have gone before you.
Just look at your question regarding the course work and expense, this would just be the beginning and should give you an idea of how hard it will be.
However yes in my opinion it is worth it. Being an Airline pilot is much more than a job. Its a passion, lifestyle and a statement of who and what you are.
Not many people get to follow their dreams, but you will have to earn it.
Look at more flight schools, both in Europe and the U.S. a long way from home but much cheaper.
Some U.S. flight schools offer J.A.A. approved training and testing.
I got my U.S. private in 1991 it took me another 15 years but I am now living my dream as an Airline Captain.
I wish the same for you,
Good luck!
