Hypernyms...Can you give some words?10 points!!!!!?
Can you tell we some words i can substitute for hypernyms and such.
Ex. pencils,pens,eraser =writing equipments/tools
drawing,music,dancing=art
roses,lilies,geraniums=flowers
tv,cinema,radio=technical means
Please say as many as you can i need words that i can put in a text summary.
Needed for literature exams so pls help!
I had about this on my exam last week :p
dogs (sub-catergory: golden-retriever, russel terrier), cats (siamese, forest etc.), horse (pony, new forest, shetlands pony/horse) = co-hyponyms of animals
green, blue, red = co-hyponyms of colors
goldfish, swordfish, shark = co-hyponyms of fish
granite, marble = stone
uhm..._I don't know all the words in English, sorry, but you can find them at ANYTHING: say you try to find hyponyms of the hypernym tree: there are like 1000s of different kinds of trees, and witihin them you will also find subcategories, where the "upper" catergory is the superordinate of the ones following: animal is superodinate of dog, while golden retriever will we superordine of golden retriver, but at the same time being a polysemous lexeme (one with more than one meaning). The best way to demonstrate this, is to make a "tree" with animal on top, followed by the categories dog, cat, horse etc. and then divide these in smaller units. Makes it easier.
