how to design a home floor plan?

i am designing an eco friendly home for school (10th grade). i have a basic hand drawn floor plan but i dont know if i should use a computer floor plan program or just draw one by hand? what are some good, easy to use floor plan software that is FREE?? and like free trials on smartdraw and stuff are those easy to use? how long is the trial? can you print the stuff and save it once the trial has ended? thanks! :)
what about floorplanner.com??
i tried google sketch up but it wasn't really what i was looking for.

Unless school demands that you have something on the computer, the easiest way to draw a floor plan is by using graph paper. Each square can represent one or two square feet, whatever works for your plan and the size of paper you have. If you can find very large sheets of it, that helps, but you can manage with letter or legal size. Use a pencil so it's easy to correct mistakes. Once you have the plan all figured out, you could draw a nice clean copy in pen on a fresh sheet of paper.
