What is the algorithm Microsoft Photo Editor or a similar program uses for brightness and contrast changes?
I'm trying to write an image editing program, and I want to know what is a normal brightness algorithm. I've tried comaring photos that have been brightened using Photo Editor, and I can't work out what it's doing! It's certainly not linear, so what is it?
