How do I import an Adobe Illustator file into an AutoCad program?
I want to turn one of my pdf drawings I made in Illustrator into 3D. I downloaded a bunch of free CAD softwares but they don't allow you to import PDFs. Is there a program you suggest?
I don't actually have the program "AutoCad". I've been downloading free ones and none have been capable of importing these files. Is there a free type of CAD program that you know of that would do this? I don't want to put money into something when I've never seen it work before.
The best is to export to DXF using illustrator - autocad will open and read a DXF natively
If you don't have illustrator anymore, try using a program called GSView and a plugin called pstoedit. These two together will allow you to export a vector PDF to DXF.
As for the other formats recommended by the previous poster, they are raster formats pretty much worthless for making cad drawings in a CAD program. As a last resort you can do that and then trace the image, but at that point you may be better off starting from scratch.
