Autocad Architecture 2012

metric units in AutoCAD 2012?

i want to set my default units to meters, so when i enter 1, its value will be 1meter.
i opened the template acadiso.dwt, which is said to be set to metric units but my drawing seems to be too small, i created a 10m x 10m square and i have to zoom all the way and have to regenerate to work on it. and regenerate again to zoom out.

what must be wrong with my settings?

*running Autocad architecture 2012 on win7 home premium x64

Hi! its me again and here's something I missed on your other but same question:

Use acadiso.dwt and when you think that your drawing seems to be tooo small, invoke Zoom-->>Extents and you won't see the square so tiny again when you roll the mouse wheel...unless you intend to..of course.
