How do i begin making my comic?
I have an honors English project to make a 10 page comic. I pretty much know the plot and all but i am the WORST, MOST TERRIBLE, PATHETIC drawer there is ( i was born with no hand cordination :) so i cant draw anything. All the good comic websites i found cost money which as a ninth grader i don't have and my dad probably wont lend me a dime much less $2850 dollars for a ten page good comic.
What are some good websites that are free? maybe a software i can buy? anything to make getting an A+ possible.
Hi ram,
first, I'm not sure what sites or software you were looking at that would allow you to create an excellent comic without drawing, much less those that cost money. second, no fair teacher would mark anyone down for "bad drawings", as the only real pathetic drawing is one that shows no effort. So basically, what you need to do to begin making your A+ comic is to know you'll be using your own two hands to make it, and not some fancy site or software.
That said, making a comic is easy, since all it is is a bunch of panels. Fold a paper and in half, twice, or draw the boxes on there with a ruler, or use powerpoint or excel if you want to software, whatever that gets you panels. They don't have to be fancy like the ones you see professional comics, you're only in the ninth grade.
Also tip: since they are 10 pages, I'd recommend each page have around 4 panels max. The key here is quality, not quantity, and less panels take less time.
Next, since this is a project for english, what the teacher is going to look for the most is what you choose to emphasize within those 10 pages. That said, plan out what you want to say in all the panels first before you get to the art part. Key is to get the main plot across (rising action, climax, the works).
Lastly, the pictures. Here are some options:
- literally: draw stick figures. I'm serious, all great art starts with stick-figure sketching. Draw stick figures with a pencil. then draw clothes, hands, and facial expression over that stick figure to give it some meat, and outline what lines you wanna keep with pen. I remind you, they can be as hideous as can be, but the teach will appreciate the effort.
Color: i recommend color pencil. Aside form coloring within the lines, try to make the color as solid as possible. Don't make it look like the color was just scribbled on. Markers are good too, whatever works.
- if you still don't want to draw, then be creative. You can do some literal photoshop: take pictures of yourself in different angles and expressions, print, cut out, and paste, along with other props and scenery. You could get photoshop the software for a price, but waste the money when you can do it yourself. Photo pasting might not be allowed by your teacher, so be sure to ask first.
Sorry my answer's so long; it probably wasn't an answer you had in mind, but i hope it'll offer you some good insight. Good luck with your project!
