does an observational drawing have to be a technical one?
i really can't draw properly. i draw out of proportion and i get the shading and sizes of everything completely wrong!
for a college project i've been asked for observational drawings. i've been told observational drawings is how i look at an object. my sketches are somewhat realistic but they have more of a cartoon and simple look to them. would this still be classed as observational (as i have had the object infront of me whilst i drew it!)
do you know what a gesture drawing is? a quick fast often messy drawing. I would do those, sit on the train, coffee shop or on a bus and draw the people around you. you are observing them in their natural habitat.
